Out of Network Reimbursement Opportunity

Interested in seeking counseling but I’m not in your insurance network? As an out of network provider, I’ve partnered with Mentaya to help my clients save money and receive reimbursement on out of network services. Use the benefits checker below to see if you qualify for reimbursement from my services:

Insurance

Beginning August 1, 2024 I will no longer be billing insurance for counseling appointments. Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, you may receive a partial reimbursement for sessions with out-of-network providers. Use the Mentaya tool above to determine if your plan has out-of-network benefits and what type of reimbursement you may receive. Many individuals also opt to use their HSA/FSA cards for therapy.

Please note that a mental health diagnosis is required in order to bill insurance even for out-of-network billing. Some individuals opt not to involve their insurance at all if they do not want a diagnosis attached to their health record.

Using insurance for therapy provides many barriers that, in the opinion of many providers, limits the therapists ability to provide exceptional care. If you are curious about why providers choose to opt out of using insurance for their practices, THIS ARTICLE can provide you with valuable insight.

Payment

I accept cash, check, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), and all major credit cards as forms of payment.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your appointment please contact me as soon as possible, preferably at least 24 hours before your appointment time. If you no-show to an appointment, you may be at risk of being charged a $75 and/or losing your spot on my calendar.

The No Surprises Act Effective January 2022

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you agree to a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate.
